Development Intern, Bike MS

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is offering an exciting internship opportunity within the Development department. This paid internship can provide school credit and offers valuable experience in the non-profit, fundraising, and event planning industries. This position can be based out of our office in Brookfield, WI, remote, or hybrid. The Development intern position is ideal for someone seeking a career in non-profit, marketing, fundraising, event production, and/or communications. Candidates must be self-motivated, a team player, result-oriented, and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people living with and affected by MS. This position will work directly with the Bike MS Manager on the recruitment and cultivation of Bike MS participants, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors with the end result of reaching the Bike MS campaign fundraising and recruitment goals.

 

What You Will Do

  • Day to Day
    • Each day this intern will work closely with the Development department to ensure the successful execution of Bike MS in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Specific Responsibilities
    • Relationship Building and Retention 50%
    • Researching/Data Mining 20%
    • Sponsor/Vendor/In-Kind Solicitation 20%
    • Logistics and Event management 5%
    • Other duties as assigned 5%
  • Learning Objectives
  • Understand how a local nonprofit organization works with a national level body to execute mission
  • Understand how a portfolio is built and managed through the donor life cycle (acquisition, cultivation, stewardship, and retention)
  • Utilize NMSS databases, tools, and resources to assist with event preparation.
  • Understand different aspects of event execution, including volunteer management, event production, and development.
