Program specialist
The Program Specialist will work with the Director to develop a program that is tailored to the needs of our members and government partners. This position is responsible for providing high-level customer service throughout the effective implementation of the volunteer/child enrollment and match support process in accordance with the Big Brothers Big Sisters brand of excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct volunteer and youth enrollment including interviews, and all aspects of the enrollment process in accordance with BBBSA and BBBS Miami standards. Serve as the SINGLE contact for the match to ensure seamless communication and support in-person/virtual.
- Provide quality and timely match support with a focus on case management best practices rooted in a thorough needs assessment of the youth.
- Conduct child safety education. Assess and refer families for alternative or additional services as needed or required by funding sources.
- Determine matches and facilitate match meetings in accordance with volunteer and family schedules (evening and or Saturdays and needed and required). Assess and apply factors contributing to a successful match. Effectively align volunteer interests and qualifications with service options of the agency.
- Ensure high-level proficiency in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies, and procedures throughout all aspects of the job function. Identify child safety issues for volunteers, children, and their families.
- Assist as needed with “frontloading” outreach at community events and with schools and other community-based organizations to ensure all students are enrolled as early as possible.
- Follow agency timelines, policies, and procedures to ensure functional excellence and first-class customer service while ensuring child safety.
- Discuss Match activities, Group Engagement & Mentoring (GEM) programming, and BBBS Continuing Education opportunities as part of the ongoing case management process.
- Collaborate with other service delivery staff to ensure smooth transition among functions.
- Carry out specific match plans based on child needs that add value to the match and provide ongoing case management and child safety oversight.
- Contact volunteers, parents, and children according to agency standards, to provide ongoing case and risk management and keep the match active long-term.
- Review goals and accomplishments with all children, parents/guardians, and volunteers.
- Conduct match evaluations with parents, children, and volunteers and input them according to standards.
- Provide timely and comprehensive write-ups of all contacts.
*Minimum bachelor’s degree in social services, human resources, or related field; Experience working with both child and adult populations; specific assessment, intake, or interview experience preferred, proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and excel. Must have reliable transportation a valid driver's license, and meet state-required automobile insurance minimums.
