Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

Family Central Inc. is looking to hire an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant for our Jump Start Program in Miami Dade. If you are Bilingual in Spanish or Creole with a Master's Degree in Mental Health or Early Childhood Education, and have experience working with children 0-5 years old, keep reading!

In addition, you will receive a SIGN-ON INCENTIVE OF 40 HOURS OF VACATION TIME OFF AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF YOUR 90 DAYS PROBATIONARY PERIOD, TO BE TAKEN WITHIN YOUR FIRST YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT.

The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant is responsible for providing three levels of early childhood mental health consultation to early childhood education centers: Program Level, Classroom Level, and Child Level; and to maintain a consistent roster of four centers at all times. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and maintain positive working partnerships with staff and teachers in recruited early learning sites. Provide assessments and develop consultation plans with sites.
  • Act as a client advocate at all times. Provide continuous support to child care center staff regarding implementation of evidence-based strategies related to classroom management and social emotional skill development and to parents regarding their child's behaviors.
  • Make needed referrals for more intensive or additional services, as needed.
  • Attend regular individual and group supervision sessions, required and recommended training.
  • Work closely with supervisor to achieve positive program outcomes, develop appropriate goals and review to ensure quality and effectiveness of services.
  • Participate in external committees, task forces, community provider meetings, visibility events, as requested to promote the program and maintain knowledge.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Must have a Master's Degree in Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or Education. Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience working with children (0-5yrs) and families providing mental health services.
  • Knowledge of infant mental health and/or early childhood required. Demonstrated experience in working with early childhood settings.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Office.
  • Able to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Able to perform in an empowered environment by working collaboratively with other professionals, personnel and direct service providers. Must be familiar and comfortable working with diverse populations.
  • Must have transportation and be willing to visit clients in their homes. Valid Florida Driver's License with full access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage (proof of insurance is required).
