
Engineering Technician (Civil or Agricultural)
This position is located in a Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), state, area, or field office.
The incumbent provides engineering assistance working with landowners, groups, and units of government to apply and maintain a variety of conservation practices in their area of assigned responsibility. This position is supervised by a District Conservationist or Engineer but always with technical guidance provided by an engineer and under the Engineering Job Approval Authority (EJAA) of the State Conservation Engineer.
Duties:
- Make site evaluations to assess the need for engineering measures and make or recommend a preliminary selection of appropriate measure alternatives.

- Design engineering practices and structures involved in a variety of conservation programs, to include assembling complete packages of drawings and specifications for jobs and preparing drawings using CADD and manual methods.
- Inspect work under construction and maintain construction inspection records according to current policy.
- Determine the type, scope, and intensity of field investigations and surveys.
- This includes collecting field data, processing and plotting data related to engineering practices, and ensuring that procedures and products conform to current service policy and standards.
