Product Portfolio Strategist

As Product Portfolio Strategist – Connected Home, you will be a leader within Marvin to define the strategy and execution for all aspects of launching successful connected/smart products. This role will be critical in helping Marvin deliver on its promise to bring happy healthy living to its customers. This role will have accountability to gather and analyze insights (VOC/channel dynamics/technology) to deliver a detailed product strategy that includes proposed projects/solutions and a solid business case. 
 
The Product Portfolio Strategist will be the internal champion and “voice of the product” to key stakeholders. Marvin is continuing to invest in and build out it’s digital and electro-mechanical “center of excellence”, and this role will play a heavy role in crafting our processes and priorities. 

This role will be lead in digital roadmap creation, ideation, requirements gathering, scoping and spec-ing working together with internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining up-to-date market and competitive analysis. Define the why, when, and what of the product that the development team focuses on. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including research and development, sales, marketing, and leadership to drive from a product's conception all the way through to its launch and growth. 
 
What You Will Do (Essential Functions) 

  • Own and maintain an on-going roadmap of the solution. Continuously prioritize the roadmap and communicate it to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage with customers, prospects, and the market to gather requirements and use cases.
  • Maintain an on-going market and competitive landscape research to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end product life-cycle, including high level and low level requirements, specifications, mockups and designs, documentation and releases.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the UX/UI process.
  • Capture and analyze usage KPIs and metrics to assess the success of the solution. Engage with users for feedback and follow-up requirements.
  • Identify and engage with 3rd party partners in the smart home industry. Test and validate the partner solution. Negotiate and agree on partnership terms.
  • Partner with others in product management and engineering to align strategic goals and priorities
  • Participates/Leads updates to the senior leadership team
  • Partners with sales and channel partners to help support and launch new products.
  • Be a thought partner for connected home leadership  and help craft the new processes for the digital team within Marvin.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in product management
  • 3+ years of experience managing digital and/or electro-mechanical products
  • 3+ years of experience working with channel partners (dealers/architects/smart home integrators)
  • Agile mindset / Agile product development experience
  • Demonstrated success working with hardware and firmware teams to plan, develop, refine, and launch successful products
  • Demonstrated success working with product management teams
  • Collaborative self-starter
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to ~25%

  • Microsoft Azure experience (IoT Hub)
  • Data management experience (Snowflake)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience within home building/renovation industry
  • Deep understanding of partnerships within IoT (API’s)
  • Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, Miro, Figma
  • Experience working within a greenfield software development environment
  • Experience collaborating with remote teams

Hybrid Role 

This role has been designed to be hybrid. The team gets together in-person twice per week to collaborate and connect with other teams.
