Intern - Sales (Summer 2024)

United Worldwide Sales
Our Worldwide Sales team is the largest revenue-generation department at United. Sales works with corporations, travel agencies, and content distribution partners to design, negotiate, and implement programs and agreements that achieve commercial objectives for United’s B2B relationships.

Field Sales Organization
The Field Sales Organization is focused on pro-active strategic account management and cultivating mutually beneficial relationships with United’s B2B customer portfolio. The Field Sales Intern will work closely with members of the Field Sales Organization to research and identify contact relationship mapping opportunities. The intern will be responsible for working within United’s Customer Relationship Management Tool – Salesforce - to document and chart findings as well as potential next steps. Processes developed by interns will also be gathered as SOP for future contact mapping assignments.
Sales Strategy & Pricing
This role is not a front-line Sales role. It is a strategy role that provides analytical support to our Sales team and United’s broader Commercial leadership team. The Sales Strategy & Pricing intern will have the opportunity to learn - and help shape - how United approaches B2B commercial arrangements in today’s rapidly changing landscape. The person in this role may collaborate with departments outside Sales, including Marketing, Loyalty, PRM, Network, FP&A, and more. Responsibilities may include developing analytic tools, reports, and processes that provide higher-quality insights, evaluate potential new designs of corporate and agency programs, analyzing booking, ticketing, revenue, and other data to assess Sales program performance, and provide analytical support.
United for Business Marketing
This role supports the Small Business demand generation division of the United for Business Marketing (Business to Business marketing) team. The intern would be responsible for thoroughly understanding our marketing goals and recommending and implementing solutions that support our business objectives. This role supports small business marketing efforts including marketing automation, campaign execution, and obtaining customer insights. The intern will take a leadership role in providing recommendations that support strategic objectives based on said customer insights.
United for Business Sales Effectiveness & Training
This role offers the successful candidate an outstanding experience to help enable our Sales team across the world grow and improve their selling skills via our training and other learning strategies. Work will be centered around partnering with many coworkers within Sales, across the company, and our customers to enable this strategy. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to learn more about how Learning and Development can support a large, worldwide organization in ever-changing times. The scope includes:
- Assisting with creating, managing, and maintaining an organized and effective Learning Library as a repository of all training/learning content
- Researching and making recommendations on new learning modalities and platforms that can be utilized
- Updating existing training content to ensure current and relevant
- Supporting the development, design, and implementation of new training sessions
Qualifications
Required
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
- Graduating Winter 2024 or Spring 2025
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities at once
- Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills – ability to learn new systems quickly
- Presentation skills – comfort with presenting in-person and virtually in front of large groups, including leadership
- Ability to coordinate and effectively work with diverse groups of people
- Ability to review complex information and make recommendations
Preferred
- Analytical skills
- Content management systems knowledge
- Experience in adult learning and development
- Professional presentations to audiences of 20 or more people
UA Business Marketing
- Experience with creative design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite
- Basic understanding of marketing principles, particularly business-to-business (B2B)
