Intern - Global Community Engagement (Summer 2024)

Position Overview
At United Airlines, the Global Community Engagement group forges meaningful partnerships with local, national and international nonprofits and promotes the value of those relationships among employees, customers and in the communities United serves.
Interns for Global Community Engagement will be working on projects that include:
- Business Diversity: Support the United Business Diversity team as they pursue membership of the Billion Dollar Roundtable and sustain a best-in-class supplier diversity program. Manage the supplier inbox, as well as certification trends and activity among suppliers. Assist with tactical activities to support relationship management, data gathering and reporting.
- Social Impact Program Coordinator: Educate and collaborate with other departments on customer facing programs. Support Social Impact Team in elevating Miles on a Mission initiative and own the programs user experience in the post-donation phase; follow-up communication to customers who donated to share the goodness of their actions with photos, videos, etc. Participate in tactical activities to trend overall social impact and partner relationships.
- Social Impact Program Coordinator -Volunteerism: Educate and collaborate with other departments on volunteerism initiatives, program advocacy and business alignment. Assist with program governance, support company-wide employee engagement and volunteer initiatives and facilitate employee inquiries, programs, general communication development and support regional activations. Participate in tactical activities to trend overall social impact and partner relationships.
- United We Care - Nonprofit Coordinator: Support the overall program administration for United We Care, a 501c3 charity to benefit employees and retirees of United Airlines and wholly owned subsidiaries. Assist with tactical business alignment activities, as well as support the north star project to increase employee trust by means of owning the United We Care Ambassador Program.
- Global Community Engagement Brand Advocate: Own communication and marketing initiatives that strengthen the Global Community Engagement and Every Action Counts brand.
Qualifications
- Applicant must be a current student pursuing a degree in Public Affairs/Policy, PR/Advertising, Communications, or a related field
- Highly organized and self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; must be comfortable talking to and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders
- Confident performing data analysis to arrive at insights and develop recommendations
- Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Additional Information:
- Position will be hybrid, based in Chicago, IL
- Intern duration is 12 weeks
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
