Wellness Intern

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Arthrex Wellness Program plays an integral role in developing opportunities to support our corporate culture of employee wellbeing. We are searching for a Intern pursuing a health sciences degree. The successful candidate will assist with developing and facilitating specific programs to reduce health risks, specifically obesity, high blood pressure and Diabetes. Responsibilities will also include running sport leagues and departmental team building events, developing podcasts, conducting fitness assessments, including VO2 max testing and designing small group training classes.   

 

This internship will run from May 2024 – August 2024. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
 

Main Objective:

  • The wellness intern will design, implement and evaluate a specific health education program or fitness challenge based on health metrics of the employee population. The intern will also design fitness classes and educate employees on various topics through live and virtual presentations and podcasts

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a blood pressure reduction program.
  • Design and teach a group fitness class.
  • Coordinate and record a variety of podcasts.
  • Co-facilitate a Diabetes Prevention Program.
  • Design and implement a sports tournament.
  • This is an in-office position located in Naples, FL; it is not a remote position.


Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Exercise Science, Health Sciences, or Kinesiology. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.
  • Knowledge of Physiology, biomechanics/kinesiology, or exercise testing preferred. 

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
