Content Manager and Social Media

SOCIAL MEDIA, COMMUNITY + CONTENT MANAGER

We are seeking a proactive individual to join Spokin as a Social Media, Community andSOCIAL MEDIA, COMMUNITY + CONTENT MANAGER

We are seeking a proactive individual to join Spokin as a Social Media, Community, and Content Manager. As part of our team, the ideal candidate is an organized, process-driven self-starter who is eager to roll up their sleeves and learn while doing so with the goal of supporting multiple facets of Spokin's team.

We are looking for someone resourceful, organized, and detail-oriented who is excited to work at a fast-paced startup and brings creative ideas, as well as strong communication, relationship management, writing, design, and image selection skills, to the role.

This role includes overseeing our Ambassador and Influencer program, community and social media management, and content creation, including basic graphic design. As an integral member of a small fast-paced start-up team, we look forward to your contributions and can’t wait for you to jump in. This role reports to the CEO.

WHO WE ARE

Our mission is to make life easier for people who manage food allergies, celiac, and other specialized diets by connecting this large consumer group to safe food, places including restaurants, bakeries, hotels, and each other.   

Managing a specialized diet requires daily attention and a tremendous amount of time—with Spokin, we help the community find more and search less with our free iOS app, our content and our community.

Since launching in May 2016, we have become the largest and fastest-growing food allergy platform with over 75k user reviews across 90 countries. 

We have a partner program called Spokin Verified that helps companies including some of the fastest-growing food brands such as Oatly, JUST Egg, and Sweet Loren’s market directly to this distinctively loyal consumer. We have also recently partnered with several Health + Wellness partners, including ThermoFisher Scientific and are in the process of launching Verified Partner programs in the restaurant and meal delivery industries. 

Spokin was founded by Susie Hultquist, a food allergy mom with over two decades of experience as an investor in consumer platforms and a dream to create a tool that her now teenage daughter could use on her own to find safe donuts and to ultimately travel safely around the world. RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation:

  • Participate in campaign ideation and planning with the goal of driving engagement among app users and social media audience
  • Identify content ideas based on season, holidays, national days, current events, pop culture, and other relevant topics
  • Conduct research on topics including allergy-friendly foods, recipes, and restaurants for Spokin Guides
  • Utilize Wordpress to assemble webpages for Spokin Guides and other content pieces
  • Write social media language and assemble emails to accompany the publication of new Spokin Guides
  • Select images aligned with the Spokin brand aesthetic for content and newly reviewed business pages on the Spokin app and manage approval of business reviews

Design:

  • Adobe Photoshop and/or Lightroom: Basic editing (exposure, contrast, tone curve, saturation, vibrance, sharpening, HSL) and simple retouching with clone stamp tool (examples: removing specks of dust/dirt from an image, fixing a chip on the edge of a bowl, removing a word written on baseball field turf, etc.)
  • Adobe Illustrator: Create design assets using shapes, lines, pen tool, clipping masks, etc.
  • Canva: create designs in Canva and to use assets from Canva to create designs in Illustrator
  • Review and edit design assets to ensure consistent alignment and spacing of type and elements, correct spelling in text, etc.
  • Export design assets in specific file formats, resolutions, and sizes

Social Media + Community Management:

  • Collaborate with the Founder and CEO on bringing her vision and voice to the Spokin community, including app users, social media followers, Ambassadors, and brand partners, while representing Spokin in a positive, optimistic and aspirational manner
  • Execute the posting of content pieces and social media posts
  • Monitor and respond to comments and direct messages on social media and support emails from app users
  • Research and engage with influencers and celebrities in the food allergy community
  • Identify breaking industry news, trends, and relevant content to post in our app and on Spokin’s social media accounts to keep Spokin users "in the know"

Ambassador Program:

  • Oversee relationship management with current Spokin Ambassadors
  • Manage ambassador communication regarding product sampling opportunities, address collection, social media posts, and Spokin app reviews
  • Seek out potential new ambassadors on social media and engage with them to encourage app downloads and sharing of reviews
  • Add new ambassadors to Spokin Ambassador platforms and communicate ambassador program details

Brand Communication:

  • Confirm details of product sampling opportunities and giveaways/social media activations with partner brands
  • Send Spokin Ambassador shipping information for product sampling to partner brands, perform checks of product delivery status, and assist with re-delivery of missing products
  • Work collaboratively with the content team to share dates and timing of sample opportunities and other brand partnership details
  • Brainstorm and implement engaging collaborations involving brand partners and products
  • Provide support for the Verified Brand onboarding process as needed

Giveaways:

  • Monitor and respond to giveaway entries on social media 
  • Select, notify, and collect shipping information from giveaway winners
  • Manage post-giveaway follow up, including sending information to partner brands and confirming product shipment/delivery
  • Track, assess, and report on the performance of giveaways and activations

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, including Liberal Arts
  • Great eye for image selection, including food, travel, and overall design trends. We aim to share aspirational and high-styled imagery and food photos that are “insta-worthy”.
  • Proficiency in WordPress or other website-building platforms, MyEmma or other email campaign software, and social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Tik Tok.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, Adobe Illustrator, and Canva
  • Knowledge of and experience with Sketch is a bonus but is not a requirement
  • Knowledge of or interest in learning more about social media marketing and analytics, as well as how social media works with other areas of marketing, including SEO 
  • Willingness to take initiative and ability to prioritize workload
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced, cross-functional and continuously changing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude under pressure with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently

Content Creation:
