About the Internship
Classification: Part-time or Full-time / Unpaid but credits are available
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: 3-6 months, semester, or yearlong
Start date: as soon as possible
Position Description
Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Development, the Development Intern supports grant writing, prospecting, and development efforts as Mercado Global continues to expand its corporate and foundation partners. The Grants Intern is responsible for supporting our institutional partnerships and meeting the organization’s annual fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and research foundations and corporations whose philanthropic interests are aligned with Mercado Global’s mission
- Support the development of grant proposals, LOIs, progress and final reports, project budgets, executive summaries, and other supplemental tools and materials
- Update institutional pipelines, maintain records of submissions and correspondence, and track deadlines
- Additional Development team responsibilities
Key Requirements
- Current or recent college graduate from an accredited four-year institution, graduate students also welcome
- Demonstrated interest in non-profit development and international work
- Excellent organizational skills and extreme attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of database management preferred
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and balance competing demands and priorities
- Experience using Salesforce a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
- Enthusiasm for Mercado Global's mission
- Flexibility and drive
