University Intern, Disputes & Economics (Financial Services Disputes) (Washington, DC)

This position supports the Ankura Disputes & Economics Business Group - one of seven practices focused on client delivery services across the Firm.

Practice Summary:  The Global Disputes & Economics practice focuses on assisting clients with financial, accounting, and economic issues associated with complex litigation.  A sample of diverse consulting engagements include consulting and preparation of expert report and testimony in consumer class action matters, consulting on complex forensic accounting and financial reporting matters, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, and litigation support.

Position Summary: Our Summer Internship Program has been created to give students an opportunity to learn what life as a consultant in our Global Disputes & Economics practice is like at Ankura.  As an Intern, you will work on a variety of projects with different engagement teams.  The program aims to give you exposure to the breadth of our services and client work.  You will work closely with our professionals – Consultants through Director – and gain first-hand experience in consulting.  Your assignments may involve work in fact-finding, allocating costs, analyzing damages, organizing information, or helping to manage data.   You will also learn new skills and participate in social and volunteer activities throughout the summer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Interns perform a wide range of functions that may include developing and performing financial, accounting, economic, and statistical analyses; loading and validating data received from clients into structured data formats; developing models using data analytic tools and programs; performing detailed and complex spreadsheet analyses; assisting with data gathering activities including document review, research, and quality control of data entry activities; and preparation of client reports and exhibits.

Basic Qualifications, Skills, and Characteristics:

Third year undergraduate students graduating between December 2024 and June 2025 with a preference for candidates majoring in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other analytical course of study.

Solid academic performance with a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better.

A working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, and strong research and analytical skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Initiative, adaptability, creative problem-solving skills, an ability to work well with teams, and work overtime when needed.

Advanced technical skills such as database and statistical programming languages, including SQL, R, Python, SAS are a plus.
