Interior Design Intern

AR Homes has a wonderful summer internship opportunity for an Interior Design Intern at our St. Petersburg, Florida location. We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our team. In this position, you will be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of our daily routines and procedures. You will focus on learning how our organization runs, and can be expected to gain valuable insight into the residential design career field. The Interior Design Intern will learn how to assist the Senior Designer during the entire design phase of a home remodel or new home build. In addition to Interior Design duties, the intern will have the opportunity to meet managers, executives, and C-suite members of the team.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain sample library
  • Assist the designer with the selection of fabric, textile, furniture, lighting, and interior design finishes as well as coordination with vendors
  • Assist in all aspects of interior design for new homes or renovation projects
  • Assist in research, sourcing, fabric selection, furniture design, and meeting preparation
  • Assist Designer in the specification and coordination of interior finishes and fixtures
  • Perform clerical duties, take memos, maintain files, and organize documents as needed

Intern Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and Photoshop
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Knowledge in preparation of furniture plans, elevations and detailed custom furniture drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a high level of visual presentation skills
  • Detail oriented along with the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling a wide variety of activities and multiple priorities are essential
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision and ability to multi-task
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
