Systems Engineer (Associate, Experienced and Lead) 00000390292

The Boeing Company is seeking a broad range of experience levels for a Systems Engineer including; Associate, Experienced and Lead Systems Engineers who will provide engineering support across the Boeing portfolio of Avionics products, to include – but not limited to - Boeing Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft and future produce development to join the International Government Head of State organization with the ETS&S Division. This position will be physically located in Oklahoma City, OK.

This is a hybrid position that may allow for some telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Oklahoma City, OK.  These positions will also be eligible for the OKC 9x80 alternate work schedule.

Security Clearance / Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. 
An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Position Responsibilities:
Systems Engineer  (Level 2)

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

Systems Engineer (Level 3)

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

Systems Engineer (Level 4)

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
  • Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

Typical Education/Experience:
Associate (Level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Mid-Level (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience)
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Aerospace Engineering Experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Aerospace Engineering Experience
  • Experience of system architecture modeling and tools
  • Experience of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle (Doors or Cameo)
  • Experience of certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements (FAA certification activities , processes and procedures)
  • Experience of database management tools (e.g. Records Management Database, Access, Excel)
  • Experience of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems (system engineering, system integration and integrated system test)
  • Experience of system architecture modeling and tools. Ability to model system states/modes, behaviors, functional threads, user and activity diagrams per SySML framework.
  • Experience of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle per INCOSE SE Handbook.
  • Experience of certification and qualification processes and procedures for Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements such as (DO-160, DO-178, FAA Order 8110.101A, MIL-HDBK-516).
  • Experience of database management tools (e.g. Records Management Database, Access, Excel)
  • Experience of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and avionics systems of Boeing Commercial Aircraft.
  • Experience applying Systems Engineering principals and Systems Integration in the Aerospace industry per Defense Acquisition Guidebook and INCOSE processes.
  • Experience in Military Commercial Derivative Airworthiness Certification developing a Cert Plan, Cert Basis, Compliance Check List, and Certification Work Sheets.
  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences including FAA representation, ODA Leadership, Engineering Unit Members (E-UM) & Project Administrators (PA), and Program & Functional Leaders.
  • Experience with FAA Service Bulletins and Supplement Type Certification for Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft
  • Systems thinker capable of making engineering proposals based on data analysis and forecasting wide reaching and longer-term impacts
  • Experience developing presentations and presenting to multiple levels of an organization
  • Experience investigating and finding solutions to complex technical or regulatory issues
  • Experience recognizing and balance conflicting priorities

Additional Information:
Work Schedule: Oklahoma City has a 9/80 work schedule.   Every other Friday is an off day.
