Senior Associate Editor

PRI is looking for a talented Senior Associate Editor to join our growing team. This editorial position requires experience in medical communications. This position is located in our Paramus New Jersey office and is open to remote work options.

Job Overview:
This position will be responsible for proofreading, copy editing, and maintaining client style for all Custom Digital and Print Programs, as well as promotional assets for digital and live meeting projects in collaboration with our Senior Scientific Editors and Directors, thought leaders, clients, and their ad agencies. 
 
Skills and Requirements: 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in proofreading/copy editing medical/pharmaceutical terminology-based content 
  • Meticulous proofreader/copy editor
  • Willingness to assume a mentoring role within the Editorial department 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills
 
Responsibilities:
  • Edits initial round of content deliverables as assigned for AMA or client style, grammar, spelling, consistency within the piece and among related pieces within a campaign
  • Correction checks of initial round of projects and subsequent rounds as necessary (has the ability to understand scientific and medical terminology)
  • Proofing and copyediting manuscripts to verify brand integrity and style consistency for both print and digital 
  • Proofing and verifying all parts of Ad Boards and Speaker Training print collateral 
  • Proofing and verifying all parts of Product Theater live meeting print collateral 
  • Proofing, editing, of slide decks for grammar, spelling, consistency for live meetings
  • Writing, copyediting, and fact checking speaker/attendee biographies for live meetings
  • Reviewing print page proofs and blueline/color proofs of all custom print projects
  • Work with other departments as needed to perform efficiently and effectively
  • Mentoring the Associate Editor
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English/Journalism/Communications or a related field
  • Two plus years as proofreader or editor in an agency setting
  • Proficiency in grammar and spelling with an eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of medical/pharmaceutical terminology
  • Knowledge of AMA style is a plus
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Acrobat Pro, Gmail, Workfront time management and proofreading program
  • The ability to work independently, proactively, and within tight deadlines
  • Ability to both multi-task and stay focused on one project until completion
  • Ability to complete research and gather information online

  • The salary range for this position is $60,000–$65,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, as well as other qualifications.
