Communications Fellow - Localization

Summary
As an advocate for child rights, Save the Children’s core values of accountability and collaboration have led us to prioritize localization, partnership and “shifting power” to achieve sustained impact at scale for children. Building on a vibrant and growing collaboration with community and local actors in the 100+ countries where we work, the Communications Fellow will assist in designing and implementing a comprehensive communication plan highlighting Save the Children’s leadership on localization and seeking to cultivate new and/or deeper relationships with US public and private donors whose partnerships are essential to advance our localization ambitions. Under the supervision of the Localization Senior Director, you will work in close collaboration with the Knowledge Management Advisor, Localization and Country Office counterparts to identify, document, and repackage lessons learned, best practices, and case studies for both internal and external dissemination. In line with our commitments to “shifting power,” these efforts will play an important role in highlighting the critical roles played by the local and national actors that Save the Children partners with in the delivery of development and humanitarian assistance, and elevating the voices of the communities we work with to the international level.
What You’ll be Doing (Essential Duties & Responsibilities)
- Produce creative and compelling communications materials such as powerpoint presentations, blog posts, webinars, infographics, photo-series, case studies, and partner profiles that raise the profile of Save the Children and the local and national partners we work alongside.
- Draft detailed and visually compelling capacity statements that highlight Save the Children’s leadership across the seven dimensions of localization.
- Support preparations for external events to showcase locally-led programing and advocacy efforts that advance child rights.
- Identify/create content for on-line platforms including websites and the Resource Center showcasing local partners and localization efforts.
- Contribute to the development/adaptation of standardized communications and knowledge management tools and templates and support their roll-out with Country Office counterparts.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal/external, global and competitor communications channels mapping.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in promoting localization, shifting power to marginalized communities, or working with civil society partners from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience developing externally-facing communications materials including case studies, partner profiles, capacity statements, etc.
- Must be an actively enrolled Associate, Bachelor, Master or other post high school education program, or have graduated within 6 months of program start date
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English,
- Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse and multi-cultural individuals and teams
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic focus on international development in either development or humanitarian settings, in a thematic or geographic area in which Save the Children works.
- Experience working with a child rights organizations.
- Language skills in French and/or Spanish.
