FULL STACK DEVELOPER INTERN, PT

Nature of Work

An intern in this position will have the opportunity to work closely with our team on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying web applications for Venture Miami. Venture Miami seeks to make Miami the "capital of capital" with an innovative technological ecosystem and an economy that delivers for everyone.
 
Work involves the application of web development principles and project management skills. Specific instructions are received when duties are initially assumed, or new tasks are undertaken.
 



Essential Functions

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Working closely with senior developers to build web applications using modern technologies.
  • Designing and developing responsive and user-friendly web pages and web applications. 
  • Collaborating with other teams, including designers, product managers, and quality assurance analysts to ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet requirements. 
  • Participating in code reviews to ensure quality and maintainability of code.
  • Writing clean, maintainable and testable code.
  • Continuously learning and staying up to date with emerging technologies and programming languages.
  • Participating in team meetings and providing status updates on project progress.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting issues in a timely and efficient manner 
Candidates are expected to:
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of web development concepts, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Have experience with at least one modern web development framework, such as React, Angular, or Vue. 
  • Have familiarity with server-side web development frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or Ruby on Rails.
  • Possess knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Have familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Python is highly preferred.
  • Become familiar with various City standards and codes.

Minimum Requirements

A recent graduate or student actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related field.
 
Recent shall mean that candidates must not have graduated more than one year prior to the date of application. A copy of cumulative transcripts reflecting the most recent term of study will be required to be submitted. 
 
A Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources.  


Documentation Requirements

  1. Proof of education in the form of Transcripts demonstrating student actively pursuing a degree or recent Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.  If submitting transcripts, submitted transcripts must include the following: student's name, school name, number of credits, degree completion, and major. Foreign diplomas/degrees must be submitted with a credential evaluation report from an approved credential evaluation agency*. If degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts indicating; degree completion, student's name, school name, and major must be submitted. Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.
  2. Copy of valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however, a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) is required at time of appointment and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
*Approved Credential Evaluation Agencies
Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:
 
·  An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR
·  A recognized Professional Organization
