EVENTS INTERN, PT

Nature of Work

An intern in this position will have the opportunity to work on a variety of event-based projects and gain hands-on experience in event planning, project management, team collaboration, and community engagement for Venture Miami. Venture Miami seeks to make Miami the "capital of capital" with an innovative technological ecosystem and an economy that delivers for everyone.
 
Work involves the application of event planning, project management, and marketing principles and techniques. Specific instructions are received when duties are initially assumed, or new tasks are undertaken.
 

Essential Functions

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Assisting with planning and coordinating various events, including networking events, workshops, and conferences
  • Conducting research to identify potential event venues, vendors, and sponsors.
  • Assisting with event logistics, including registration, event setup and breakdown, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Managing event communications, including email marketing and social media promotion.
  • Attending and representing Venture Miami at community events to build relationships and promote our brand.
  • Assisting with post-event activities, such as data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Working closely with the Venture Miami team to ensure successful event execution.
 
Candidates are expected to:
  • Demonstrate a passion and interest for event planning and community engagement.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of basic event planning and management concepts and standard practices a plus.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
  • Have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, and take directions.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Become familiar with various City standards and codes.

Minimum Requirements

A recent graduate or student actively pursuing a degree in Event Planning, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
 
Recent shall mean that candidates must not have graduated more than one year prior to the date of application. A copy of cumulative transcripts reflecting the most recent term of study will be required to be submitted. 
 
A Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources.  

Documentation Requirements

Applicants, must upload and submit attached copies of the following documents with the employment application. THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION AND ARE ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PROOF: 
  1. Proof of education in the form of Transcripts demonstrating student actively pursuing a degree or recent Bachelor's degree in Event Planning, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field .  If submitting transcripts, submitted transcripts must include the following: student's name, school name, number of credits, degree completion, and major. Foreign diplomas/degrees must be submitted with a credential evaluation report from an approved credential evaluation agency*. If degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts indicating; degree completion, student's name, school name, and major must be submitted. Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.
  2. Copy of valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however, a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) is required at time of appointment and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
*Approved Credential Evaluation Agencies
Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:
 
·  An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR
·  A recognized Professional Organization

It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all required documents submitted with the employment application are in a format that is acceptable, clear and legible for eligibility determination or risk being disqualified.
