DATA ANALYST INTERN, PT

Nature of Work

An intern in this position will have the opportunity to work closely with our team on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience in gathering, processing, and analyzing data for Venture Miami. Venture Miami seeks to make Miami the "capital of capital" with an innovative technological ecosystem and an economy that delivers for everyone.
 
Work involves the application of web development principles and project management skills. Specific instructions are received when duties are initially assumed, or new tasks are undertaken.
 
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with senior data analysts to gather, process and analyze data using modern tools and techniques.
  • Developing and maintaining data dashboards to track key business metrics.
  • Regularly updating data dashboards to ensure accuracy and relevancy.
  • Developing and implementing data collection systems and strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality.
  • Collaborating with different teams, including project managers and quality assurance analysts to ensure data requirements are met and projects are delivered on time.
  • Participating in data quality checks to maintain the integrity of data.
  • Translating complex findings and data into a simplified format.
  • Continuously learning and staying updated with emerging data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Participating in team meetings and providing updates on project progress.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting data-related issues promptly and efficiently.
Candidates are expected to:
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of data analysis concepts, including statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
  • Have experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Have familiarity with data programming languages such as SQL or Python.
  • Have experience with data management platforms like Airtable.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with Python is highly preferred.
  • Become familiar with various City standards and codes.

Minimum Requirements

A recent graduate or student actively pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
 
Recent shall mean that candidates must not have graduated more than one year prior to the date of application. A copy of cumulative transcripts reflecting the most recent term of study will be required to be submitted. 
 
A Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources.

THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION AND ARE ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PROOF: 
  1. Proof of education in the form of Transcripts demonstrating student actively pursuing a degree or recent Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.  If submitting transcripts, submitted transcripts must include the following: student's name, school name, number of credits, degree completion, and major. Foreign diplomas/degrees must be submitted with a credential evaluation report from an approved credential evaluation agency*. If degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts indicating; degree completion, student's name, school name, and major must be submitted. Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.
  2. Copy of valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however, a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) is required at time of appointment and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
*Approved Credential Evaluation Agencies
Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:
 
·  An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR
·  A recognized Professional Organization
