Catholic Charities New York - Westchester Development Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA

Catholic Charities Community Services, Archdiocese of New York (CCCS) seeks to uphold the dignity of each person by serving the basic needs of the poor, troubled, frail, and oppressed of all religions. Through a network of administered, sponsored, and affiliated agencies, CCCS delivers, coordinates, and advocates for quality human services and programs that assist with human needs and alleviate poverty. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA’s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. The VISTA member will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty. The Refugee Resettlement Department at CCCS assists newly arrived families from diverse backgrounds who are resettling in Westchester and the Lower Hudson Valley through case management, employment-based, and educational services. We are looking to develop and strengthen a network of interns, volunteers, and community partnerships in Westchester and the Lower Hudson Valley to support needs and goals that families have, including advocacy to access benefits, employment preparation, resume development, acquiring basic material needs, and more. Volunteers and interns are critical team members needed to provide comprehensive and tailored support to our vulnerable families. Through this position, the AmeriCorps VISTA Member will have an opportunity to grow capacity in Westchester and the Lower Hudson Valley through volunteer recruitment and management, partnership building, and community engagement. They will partake in strategic planning for recruitment and will create tools to enable sustainability within volunteer recruitment, volunteer training and engagement, and the development and maintenance of community partnerships. The member will also manage a growing force of volunteers and interns, as well as participate in team meetings, event planning, service days, trainings, and special events.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will implement effective volunteer management strategies to impact volunteer and intern recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention, and will provide support and guidance to volunteers and interns. The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will conduct outreach to potential community partners, non-profits, faith-based organizations, civic groups, and potential co-sponsors to promote the work of CCCS and new volunteer opportunities. The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will build capacity by undertaking new initiatives to support newly arrived families, such as partnerships with groups providing need-based donations. The AmeriCorps VISTA Member will develop materials and tools to ensure the long-lasting impact of these initiatives and will create and maintain sustainable strategies for volunteer recruitment, volunteer management, and partnership building. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will attend tabling events on behalf of the CCCS and contribute to planning special events.
