Catholic Charities Southwest Kansas Donation and Fundraising Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA
Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas has been dedicated to alleviating poverty in the 28 rural counties of Southwest Kansas for more than 50 years. Over the last few years, however, exponential needs necessitate that we develop and hone a more efficient and streamlined process for managing in-kind donations and engaging new donors across all four of our offices and throughout our geographical region. That is where you come in! As an AmeriCorps VISTA, you'll play a pivotal role on our Communication & Development Team and help us increase our capacity to help those in need. Your primary responsibility will be to research, develop and implement a comprehensive system for soliciting, receiving, managing, storing, distributing and recognizing in-kind donations in a fair and equitable manner across our four offices and throughout our geographical area. You'll also have the opportunity to design a new sustainable fundraising event in Garden City which is a multicultural hub for immigrants and refugees from around the world. And finally, working closely with the Director of Communication and Development, you will have a chance to help us create a Donor Engagement Plan designed to build a stronger and more diversified donor base, particularly with lapsed and corporate donors, ultimately enabling better service to those in need throughout the region. This VISTA position is part of Catholic Charities USA's Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you'll meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty.
Member Duties : As a VISTA member at Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas, you will help end poverty by increasing our donor base and building our capacity to secure additional resources. Major duties include working with staff and partners, and researching, creating, implementing, and evaluating a unified gift-in-kind donation system across our offices and service area. Other duties include cultivating relationships and creating a fundraising plan for a multicultural community, and assisting with the development of a donor engagement plan to target lapsed and corporate donors. A four-year degree in communication or similar and the ability to speak Spanish is desired. The ideal applicant should be an organized self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team. The applicant should possess excellent written, oral, interpersonal and public communication skills and be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Experience with computers is essential.
