Assistant News & Public Affairs Director

Independent, community radio station with growing audience is seeking an Assistant Director of News & Public Affairs to take us to the next level. You will have an opportunity for huge impact in this critical Florida market. Overall, in conjunction with the Director of News & Public Affairs, this position is responsible for supervising and directing the WMNF news and public affairs operations and programs. This includes local news, features, investigations, and on-air public affairs programming. The Assistant Director of News and Public Affairs will follow and train others to follow the station’s editorial priorities and policies to ensure that the coverage advances the vision, mission and strategic goals of WMNF (https://www.wmnf.org/about-wmnf/). Responsibilities include production and editorial supervision of news and public affairs for the main broadcast channel and our 24/7 news and public affairs HD channel. They are responsible for making assignments as well as selecting and supervising on-air news and public affairs volunteer programmers, assistants, and Interns. Must be able to work with and train (or develop training programs for) a diverse community of volunteers. You will also be responsible for some on air fundraising. We highly encourage people from diverse communities to apply. Experience in community or public radio would be a big plus, but not required.
