Facility Contract Services is a Florida based contract services company, responsible for the employment and management of personnel for municipal clients. Facility Contract Services "FCS" is a subsidiary of Vesta Property Services. FCS is currently seeking dynamic and goal-driven employees for the City of Pembroke Pines Engineering Department. This exciting opportunity in the City of Pembroke Pines operates 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.) and offers excellent compensation and benefits including health insurance and 401(k) with a Company match.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This is engineering work in the design and review of a wide variety of engineering projects. Performs assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers. Exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives based on limited experience. Using prescribed methods performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer. Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes. Supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.

This position also requires execution of moderately skilled technical drafting work in the preparation of construction plans, plats, sketches and various graphic materials. Work involves responsibility for performing simple to moderately complex drafting of an engineering, survey or landscape architectural nature, including mathematical computations associated with drafting. Work requires the limited application of knowledge of engineering, survey, landscape architecture or a related field. Work involves the use of computer aided drafting software (AutoCAD) necessary for the preparation of various graphic materials. Assignments are received from a technical or professional superior and may be accompanied by oral or written instructions. Prepares simple to moderately complex drawings using specialized drafting computer software; prepares preliminary and final plans for construction projects under the direction of experienced engineers. Work is reviewed for technical accuracy in progress and upon completion.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Regular Attendance and Punctuality is an essential requirement of the job.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in civil and/or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, or equivalent.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Limited knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering as applied to the design and construction of a variety of public works projects. Knowledge of engineering and some basic survey. Ability to adapt approved engineering methods and standards to the design and construction of a variety of county public and private works with guidance from experienced engineers. Moderate skill in the use of engineering computer aided drafting and design. Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.

Supervisory Requirements

As necessary dependent on experience. Mentorship by experienced engineers is to be expected with the end-goal of independent engineering judgement in time. May be assisted by aides, inspectors, field personnel or technicians.

Training/License Requirements

Professional Engineers License or Certified Engineer-In-Training preferred.
