ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:
Univision Television Group station is currently accepting resumes for an Assignments Editor within Noticias Univision 41 division based in San Antonio, Texas. The Assignment/producer position is responsible for managing story assignments, coordinates logistics, and responds to breaking news. Candidates should be creative thinkers able to conceptualize interactive projects for broadcast and online components for our news digital platforms, in addition line producing.
ABOUT YOU:
Minimum of 2-years’ experience in a newsroom required
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
Know basics of editing
YOUR DAY-DAY:
Generate research, verify, plan and develop story ideas and breaking news for newscasts
Coordinate editorial meetings
Coordinate reporters, anchors, and photographers by assigning stories for news and special projects
Maintain a plan for daily, weekly and future story lists.
Act as a liaison with other news organizations, community contacts, and UTG assignment desks
Line produce in booth
Regularly post on company’s social media with appropriate well written descriptions, and push notifications
Monitor news wires, social media, and scanners to mobilize for breaking news.
Participate in station’s special events and social media pages
Must be able to work under pressure, manage breaking news and strict deadlines
Work weekends, holidays and overnights if needed
YOU HAVE:
1-year experience as a Producer and/or Assignment Editor preferred
Bachelor’s Degree, in Journalism, Communications/New Media
Should demonstrate good news judgement
Have knowledge of current affairs
Detail oriented, organized, disciplined, can manage multiple tasks/responsibilities in working with tight deadlines and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
Creative and assertive
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, iNews, live feeds, and social media platforms
