Tenor, Baritone, or Bass Vocalist - United States Navy Band Sea Chanters Chorus

The United States Navy Band announces an immediate vacancy for Tenor, Baritone, or Bass Vocalist in the Sea Chanters Chorus. The live audition will take place at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, and is by invitation only. Invitations to this audition are granted following either a selection from an open call live audition, or a successful recording review. The open call live audition will be held Monday, August 28, 2023.

As the United States Navy’s official chorus, the Sea Chanters perform regularly for the President, Vice President and numerous congressional, military and foreign dignitaries. With unmatched versatility, they perform a variety of music including traditional choral music, sea chanteys, patriotic fare, opera, Broadway and contemporary music. In addition to a yearly national tour and concerts in the Washington, D.C. area, the Sea Chanters can frequently be found at the center of our most important national events, at the White House and U.S. Capitol, as well as at NFL and other professional sporting events.

Starting salary for a new member of the U.S. Navy Band is $73,056-$78,096. Other benefits include 30 days paid leave annually, full medical coverage for members and their dependents, education tuition assistance, the G.I. Bill, and student loan repayment up $65,000. Those selected for positions in the U.S. Navy Band are advanced to the paygrade of E-6 (Musician First Class) following recruit training, under a contract for permanent assignment to the U.S. Navy Band, Washington, D.C.

All applicants must be aged 18 to 41 and otherwise qualified for service in the U.S. Navy. Please note that the Navy has strict requirements with regard to medical readiness and physical appearance.

Application Instructions
An invitation-only, live audition will take place on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in Washington, D.C. To be considered for the live audition, you may either submit preliminary audio recordings, or attend a live open-call preliminary audition on August 28, 2023 (the day before the invite-only audition). All applicants must apply by 11:59 p.m. ET on July 21, 2023.
