Job Summary/Description:

WWSB-TV Sarasota / ABC7 in Sarasota, Florida, is searching for our next MORNING ANCHOR / MMJ. This journalist will start the broadcast day with a desire to deliver top quality content on the desk and in the field. Our next morning anchor must have a demonstrated track record of professionalism and success, balancing top quality delivery performance on camera with leadership backstage in the newsroom. Our station is MMJ Driven, and you’ll be expected to produce general assignment and enterprise stories when not on the desk. You’ll be expected to generate interest and excitement for our journalism by committing to our digital first philosophy and social media strategy. Community service is at the heart of our mission, and you’ll be expected to participate in station events and make public appearances as an ambassador for our station.


Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

- Anchor newscasts as assigned with clean, engaging and thoughtful delivery
- Report lead stories in multiple newscasts as an MMJ
- Write and post real time updates on digital and social platforms
- Engage audience through social channels and personal appearances
- Develop and maintain contacts with local newsmakers and experts
- Ability to partner with newsroom managers, to increase productivity and teamwork

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Demonstrated track record of producing news reports from the field with MMJ Equipment & Cell phone
- At least two years' experience as an Anchor & MMJ
- Confident & experienced performance on air
- Ability to handle breaking news on-air, online and behind the scenes in timely and professional manner
- Leadership of the news team and a trusted editorial voice
- Internship in a commercial newsroom
- Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience
