
Compliance & Operations Internship
Partners of the Americas (Partners) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that for more than 50 years has been bringing together people, organizations, and expertise to develop lasting solutions to our hemisphere’s toughest challenges. Partners’ International Office is in Washington, D.C. and is currently looking for an enthusiastic student to participate in our 2023 Spring/Summer Compliance & Operations Internship to assist the Compliance team. This position calls for an energetic and well-organized individual with excellent administrative aptitude and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
A rising university student currently enrolled in an accredited college/program (or graduated last year) in auditing, business, operations, compliance or related with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The expected engagement for the internship program is for three to four months. The candidate must present the following skillset:
- Must be able to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week (virtually).
- Strong writing and proofreading skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to read Spanish is preferred.
Scope of Work
We are seeking a Compliance & Operation Intern to join our team and assist in ensuring that our company complies with all relevant laws and regulations related to United States government cooperative agreements, contracts, and grants. The intern will collaborate with the Director of Grants & Contracts to ensure that our Partners’ policies and procedures are in line with legal and ethical standards, and comply with U.S. government requirements such as 2 CFR 200 and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in auditing, compliance and policy development for U.S. government grants and contracts. The intern will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct research on regulatory requirements under 2 CFR 200 and the FAR and industry best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits on our U.S. government grants/ to identify potential non-compliance issues against Partners’ policies and procedures and 2 CFR 200 and prepare a report.
- Assist in the development of compliance documentation, including policies, procedures, and manuals for compliance with 2 CFR 200 and the FAR.
- Help review existing standard operating procedures and policies to identify outdated procedures and update them based on 2 CFR 200 and the FAR.
- Investigate and resolve compliance issues and implementing corrective action plans to prevent future non-compliance.
- Provide support on inventory management.
- Assist in updating Excel trackers for compliance and contracts.
- Other duties as assigned.
