Reentry Intern

EVOLve Together [LLC] is a brand new organization led by a team of returned citizens and community organizers. We provide critical interventions that empower and support incarcerated and returning citizens to unlearn harmful self-perceptions and behaviors acquired as a result of traumas experienced before, during, and after incarceration. 
 
Our vision is to end violence in our lifetimes by co-creating conditions for incarcerated, returning, and returned citizens to transcend. 

Guiding principles:
 
  • Enhance the quality of life for incarcerated, returning, and returned citizens through services, stewardship of resources, and mentorship
  • Provide high-quality, trauma-informed & culturally-responsive transitional care to those impacted by the judicial and carceral systems
  • Reframe the experiences of incarcerated individuals to focus on their strengths and skills
  • Create hands-on programming geared towards closing the economic wealth gap and promoting spiritual wholeness
  • Collaborate with organizations that are aligned with our mission
 
Description: We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers that are passionate about Reentry work, violence prevention, community organizing, healing justice, education and public policy. We have many areas and opportunities for volunteers to assist with including but not limited to:
 
  • Social media management & graphic design, marketing & promotions
  • Fundraising and event management 
  • Community engagement, advocacy, & counter storytelling
  • Program development 
Note this internship is unpaid. However, on occasion we will provide meals, cover transportation costs to sites, and provide the occasional gift card.
 
Location: Remote/virtual
 
Time commitment: We are looking for interns that start with a minimum of 5 hours per week.
 
This position will provide candidates with the opportunity to (Learning Outcomes):
 
  • Support the development of a nascent organization led by folks who are closest to the pain
  • Provide assistance to individuals and communities that deal with incarceration
  • Learn how to apply tenets of healing and transformational justice
  • Develop community engagement skills and reap the rewards of connections founded on the basis of doing good 
  • Positively impact the lived experiences of individuals, primarily BIPOC, who have been marginalized and treated as disposable 
  • Learn what it truly means to do “trauma-informed” work
  • Folx* interested in non-profit management, research, data assessment and tracking, and communications can hone their skills in these areas

  • Note: while we wish to bring folx* on who seek to develop skills, certain roles will require specific qualifications (graphic design intern will need to have graphic design skills)
