Stewards VISTA: Youth Adventure Coordinator
As a VISTA Volunteer you will be helping Fayette County and the Fayette Prevention Coalition creatively solve problems brought on by the drug crisis. We focus on youth and primary prevention so many of our solutions lean on organized immersion in arts, the outdoors and sports, which means we all get to have fun. We rely on volunteers to host events for youth and you would be helping us recruit, communicate with and support those volunteers. You’ll help us with the logistics of hosting Healthy Grandfamilies programs, find ways to improve the physical design of places where youth hang out and track performance measures (data) related to our programs. We are constantly needing the support of outside organizations so grant writing and reporting is a must. We meet frequently with community stakeholders and you would help facilitate those meetings. Our crew works as a team so you wouldn’t be left in the dark to figure these things out. We collaborate on a daily basis.
Member Duties :
- Develop opportunities with local businesses/organizations to fully immerse youth in outdoor activities. Engage families and youth through public engagement and family night campaigns that will highlight activity opportunities and share information and educate the area how to overcome legacy mining in the area
- Continue to engage partner organizations and stakeholders to build an effective network of assets and resources. Increase organizational capacity by creating new partnerships through grant funding, sponsorships, and in-kind donations to support our program development. Develop a volunteer base. Educate communities about job opportunities.
- Provide support and youth with healthy alternative activities, modify and change policies.
