Structure Engineer

 

Role description

HBC engineering Company is seeking to hire full time structural engineer to help us in our expanding company’s roadway design team. Our offices which are looking to add additional engineers are in Doral, Florida and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
 
 
 

Position Profile

Expect to perform a key role on roadway design projects and the ability to work on a variety of transportation related project while coordinating with other staff. It is important that this position can support project teams from initial planning through design to construction. Projects will generally involve roadway, signalization and temporary traffic control design projects for local governments, state departments of transportation, and private clients. This is an entry level position geared toward professional development, personal growth, increasing responsibility, and professional licensure.
 
 
 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

Perform engineering calculations, translate governing standards to project specific tasks, utilize computer software for analysis and design, and work efficiently with other team members for project completion. Learn and perform overall roadway design which includes but not limited to the design of the road itself but also the design of signalized intersection, signing, pavement marking, drainage, pedestrian / vehicle safety and temporary traffic control plans. Assist in project activities such as site / field reconnaissance, permit applications, utility coordination, pavement
designs, storm water management design, 3D computer modelling, and construction cost estimates.
 
 

 

Qualifications

• Education/Training:
o A bachelor's degree in civil engineering
o Additional course work in structural design is desirable.
o Successfully passed FE exam is encourage
o 0 to 4 years of roadway project experience.
 

 

• Technical Skills:

o Ability to define problems and determine solutions while meeting governing standards.
o CAD experience and/or willingness to learn MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer Connect Edition and AutoCAD/Civil3D.
o Working knowledge of AASHTO “Green Book,” MUTCD, and state specific roadway design manuals is desirable.
o Familiarity with 3D modeling or willingness to learn 3D modeling for roadway projects.
o Interest in experiencing a variety of assignments.

o Strong oral communication and critical thinking skills.
o Keen sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
