About the Governor's Public Service Summer Internship Program (GPSSIP):
The Governor’s Public Service Summer Internship Program (GPSSIP) is designed to give college students real-world, hands-on experience in their desired field of study to enhance marketability upon graduation. Participation in the program will offer students a multitude of experiences including networking with state employees, resume building and soft skills workshops, agency head panels, and much more.

Salary:

The salary for this position starts at $16.24 per hour.

 

About the Internship:

The Community Corrections Division of the Indiana Department of Correction is seeking a self-motivated individual with experience in designing and implementing database structures.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:
  • Electronically scan, name, and organize/ categorize a large collection of physical research articles
  • Update and confirm all grant-funded entity county contacts 
  • Update and confirm Community Transition Program county contacts
  • Grantee site visits and technical assistance shadowing
  • Evidence-Based Practices trainings focused on Community Supervision
  • Grant Contract compliance 
  • Community Corrections Work Release 
  • Residential Program Audits

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience with designing and implementing database structures
  • Experience with troubleshooting and resolving database problems
  • Ability to communicate professionally with a variety of criminal justice stakeholders such as judges, prosecutors, Community Corrections Directors, Chief Probation Officers, etc.
  • Ability to provide basic training to division staff on how to use the databases
  • The ability to establish and maintain a consistent work schedule that corresponds to the requirements established by the college or university where the intern is a current student.


What You'll Need for Success:

  • Current Bachelor's level or higher degree pursuing student.


Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.


Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

As this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
