Summer Associate - Cloud Engineer

At UPMC Enterprises, we build companies by partnering with existing healthcare technology companies to accelerate their growth (acceleration) or by developing new products (de novo). Our Cloud Engineering team is central to this development, and as a Cloud Engineer, students must be comfortable in a dynamic role where they are able to build new cloud solutions at enterprise scale, maintain and modernize cloud environments, and provide support as needed to best serve our customers and partners, and positively impact healthcare.

Common Responsibilities:
  • Maintain knowledge of current best practices around techniques, process and new technologies pertaining to Cloud environments and market delivery.   
  • Develop, maintain, and support cloud solutions and services in accordance with those best practices 
  • Execute on technical design, delivery and architecture as related to Cloud infrastructure to support major new platforms and products for a team of engineers. 
  • Support rapid Cloud solution implementations and customer engagements related to Cloud computing solutions.   
  • Interact with customers, providing Cloud support and making recommendations based on client needs. 
  • Document Cloud architectures, policies, and procedures.  
  • Perform research and analysis required for project proposals, system modifications, and new products.   
  • Review Cloud tool sets regularly for efficiency, cost performance and adherence to security policies. 
  • Follow procedures and maintain scripts to deploy software onto new and existing Cloud server infrastructure.   
  • Provide troubleshooting services to Cloud customers. 
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure issues and vulnerabilities. 
  • Evaluate and improve CI/CD pipelines as related to Cloud infrastructure. 
  • Facilitate deployment of infrastructure as code. 
  • Maintain understanding and support of cloud containerization. 
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

Qualifications

  • Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, or related field students with December 2023 – May 2024 anticipated graduation date preferred
  • Prior experience with cloud computing technologies and techniques or software engineering is a plus
  • A cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 is strongly preferred, and preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated leadership ability through their studies, employment, or extracurricular activities.
  • Availability to participate as a Summer Associate full-time, from June to August 2023 for approximately 10-12 weeks with minimal absence
