Sales Operation Intern

General Summary

The Sales Operations Intern- South provides direct support to members of the Operations Sales & Strategy Team, assisting with sales data analysis, trend analysis, general reporting, financial management and daily monitoring of business trends and performance. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively analyze and communicate business performance, while assisting in the strategy necessary to achieve profit, volume and share growth targets. This person should be adaptable to the changing needs of the business and be able to shift focus accordingly. This person will need to be highly organized, goal oriented, proactive in their approach, with a positive, team-player attitude. This position works remotely. Some travel required.

Primary Responsibilities

Analytics
Promo visibility. Assist with various aspects of pre-event, main event, and post-event execution.
Promotional tracking (analysis by customer division). Develop metrics to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement within assigned market.
Tools and resource deployment and facilitator. Work with Retail Operations Manager and sales execution on customer specific key KPI trackers (promo /display objectives, reset execution and innovation speed-to-shelf).

Selling
Creating sell sheets & presentations. Creates compression selling materials to enable Sales Execution team to drive alignment & support.
Build and improve region capability for upselling in-store and compression selling across Market Sales Leads, Market Development Leaders and Zone Sales Managers (role play).

Planning
Assisting in updating priorities and key events. Liaison between customer teams and Retail Planning to coordinate promotional plans and forecast.
Assisting in creating the Retail Planning Deck. Collaborate with internal sales operations team to provide clear and concise communication regarding sales and distribution opportunities and other key information utilizing available applications and tools.

Route Infrastructure
Improve operating efficiencies through enhanced route viability and reengineering with reduction of temp labor and field sales support.

ideas Assist in projects to make the organization stronger – Projects, 3PD conversions, asset dark store solutions, route marketing, and creative solutions to eliminate asset routes and reduce temp labor costs.

Drive Internal/External engagement by attending Bi-Weekly ZSM and RVP infrastructure calls, asset route sales prospect engagements, as well as IDP engagement sessions to discuss incremental
truck options to drive viable infrastructure growth. 

Job Complexity/Scope:
  • Analyze and synthesize data from multiple complex sources to assess and effectively communicate business goals, strategies, and objectives. 
  • Solve complex problems maintaining focus and overcoming obstacles until goals and commitments are met.
  • Leverage technology to make informed business decisions. 
  • Provide real-time feedback/insights on store-level opportunities.
  • Maintain excellent presentation skills (oral and written communication skills).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in key Microsoft platforms (including Excel) and general aptitude to use technology (e.g., Microsoft Suite of products, and sales-related software).
  • Partner with Business Development Manager, Zone Sales Manager, Market Development Lead, retailers, warehouse teams to proactively identify business constraints, opportunities, and needs.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Pursuing 4 year Bachelor Degree
  • Experience: Any prior CPG analytical experience in sales, category management or retail is a plus
  • Knowledge, skill, and abilities required: Technical Skills, Analytical Skills, Decision Making Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Technical skills: Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word); 84.51 data, IRI /Nielsen; Field Sales customer knowledge, a plus
