Magazine – Review Writer (Film, Music, Art, Dance, Theater, Museums, Books)– INTERNSHIP Fall/Winter 2023

Magazine –Review Writer ---Film, Music, Art, Dance, Theater, Museums, Books--, INTERNSHIP - SUMMER, 2023

THIS IS A WRITING IMMERSION EXPERIENCE –
This student internship position is designed to immerse you in the processes of online publication.  Since its inception, Picture This Post has made training college students and recent grads a top priority. This position will likely provide you far more training than a typical internship, and it will allow you to focus on YOUR top interests always. The more time you put into this experience the more you will get out of it. Many student take on multiple roles and more responsibilities that give them more to show at the end of their time at Picture This Post – a fat portfolio of published articles among other lists of accomplishments.

Picture This Post magazine, www.picturethispost.com, alerts time-strapped readers to cultural offerings that are the best match for their interests in art, books, dance, film, museums, music, theater, as well as travel with a focus on culture. We not only cover culture creators and venues with high name recognition, but also delight in helping to showcase bold, creative strokes by fledgling artists in all genres.

Picture This Post is a heavily edited publication with a HUGE focus on adhering to the Picture This Post Review Writers' Guidelines. You begin with film or album reviews that shield you -- as a newcomer-- from deadline pressures. We call this a "trial balloon".

Once you pass the Picture This Post Writers’ Trial Balloon** you may write about any topic covered by Picture This Post, choosing your assignments from the 1000's of cultural offerings in the Picture This Post pool of review opportunities. -In all cases, you only write reviews when you are in receipt of an editor assignment letter. In all cases, you NEVER are assigned a review in any topic that does not interest you, nor do you pay for tickets, films etc.

You are not expected to write reviews on any schedule. You are only asked to initially give the review guidelines enough continuous mindspace until they “click” for you. Once fully vetted, you only sign on to review events, etc. that you are interested in. Some writers pen reviews five+ times a week; some writers might only do five reviews a year.

Amy Munice, Editor in Chief, and other members of the Review Editorial Team, will provide one-on-one coaching as you need and desire-- to help you pass the trial balloon as quickly as possible. She is the co-publisher of the magazine, a 30+ year PR professional and freelance journalist, and cultural reporter who has penned many hundreds of articles. She will be the author of your future reference for job hunting purposes and supervisor of your internship. Other members of the editorial team currently include a copy editor for a major US newspaper, an award-winning playwright, among others.

You will also learn how to use the Picture This Post online publishing automation, how to draft social media language for your stories, and share in staff responsibilities for upkeep of the Picture This Post Readers’ Calendar. Training sessions to fulfill these tasks are held by zoom—usually in small groups—throughout the week and weekend. Initially you will need to adapt your schedule in order to attend training sessions for your role in the soonest possible timeframe.
