LGBTQ Victory Congressional Internship - Summer 2023

The LGBTQ Victory Institute’s Victory Congressional Internship is developing the next generation of out public leaders. The Victory Congressional Internship prepares young LGBTQ people to become informed decision-makers and influential leaders who can change their communities and our world. Interns are paid a stipend plus provided housing, totaling over $15/hour. Additionally, transportation to and from D.C. is covered by the LGBTQ Victory Institute. The LGBTQ Victory Institute houses interns at no cost to the intern. Please do not let financial concerns prevent you from applying.

Each semester, the Victory Congressional Internship brings outstanding LGBTQ undergraduate students to Washington, DC, for an intensive leadership program, including:
  • An 8-week Congressional internship with a member of the LGBT Equality Caucus or an LGBTQ-friendly member of U.S. Congress to learn firsthand about the federal legislative process; and
  • A weekly educational and leadership development program to learn about careers in policy-making as well as engaging with subject-matter experts across the District of Columbia across working sectors. Students will learn about personal leadership, LGBTQ history and advocacy, community engagement and service, and public policy and government.
  • In December 2023, students will attend the LGBTQ Victory Institute’s annual International LGBTQ Leaders Conference for three days of training, skills building, networking, and discussion alongside hundreds of openly LGBTQ leaders in government, politics, advocacy, business, and community organizations.

The fall program will begin with move-in on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 and will run through move-out on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Students are expected to be available to work during traditional business hours, around 40 hours per week.
