Tour Director Allocations Specialist

The Role: Tour Director Allocations Specialist, Tour Director Team
Location: Boston, MA (Opportunity to work from home 2-days a week)

Our Tour Director team is looking for an energetic and detail-oriented person to work on a fast paced and passionate team. We recruit, train, allocate and retain talented people to lead our tours. Explore America produces 3-10 day domestic educational tours for middle and high school students traveling to Washington D.C., New York City, Boston and many more exciting destinations. 
 
You are joining the team that manages Tour Directors across the US. As the Tour Director Allocations Specialist you will be one of two people responsible for placing Tour Directors (TDs) on tours for all EF products across the United States. TD Allocators also manage local tour guides in our destination cities. These tour guides partner with our TDs to provide in depth knowledge; connecting students to the history and culture of each place they travel. 
 
TDs are on-site experts responsible for leading student and adult tour groups in the US. Your job is to match the right Tour Director with the right group and help prepare them to provide a tour experience that reaches EF’s standards. In this role, your daily tasks will primarily focus on TD allocation, but pivot occasionally to support other team-wide initiatives., so these initiatives include areas such as TD Operations and Training.
 
To be successful in this role, you will rely on your interpersonal and recruitment skills coupled with your strategic planning skills to make sure every tour has the best possible TD on it. This role is excellent for someone who likes to think critically about the big picture while simultaneously completing individual tasks
 
Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in a travel, educational or hospitality field
  • Exceptionally strong communicator: clear, persuasive, motivating and trustworthy
  • Travel experience is an asset with strong familiarity with the province of Quebec
  • Positive attitude – you believe nothing is impossible
  • Ability to build strong relationships externally and internally
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Driven team player with a strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook
 
What you'll Do:
  • Work closely with our Operations team in Boston, Toronto, and Montreal to match our Tour Directors with the appropriate student groups
  • Work with local guides and place them on tours as needed
  • Support other functions of the team such as recruiting, training, and preparing TDs to lead excellent tours
