2023 Internship – Software Engineer – Shipboard Systems

We are seeking an intern ready to take on new challenges with us as we seek to modernize our approach to data analysis and visualization. You will join a team of multi-disciplinary staff who are developing new approaches for analysis of deployed systems and the development and integration of new system concepts onto submarines. We help our sponsors and the associated industry contractors maintain existing deployed Navy systems, develop new systems and modifications to existing systems, and embrace the changes necessary to modernize our approach to data storage and analysis.
 
As a member of our team…
  • Your primary responsibility will be designing and implementing a MATLAB-based plotting solution leveraging XML templates.
  • You will develop software in an Agile team setting using GitLab, Jira, etc., working with software engineers and analysts.
  • You may also have the opportunity to create data visualization applications using the Unity game engine (with scripting in C#), potentially using Virtual or Augmented Reality.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar degrees.
  • Have a passion for programming and analysis, and are excited to learn about databases and MATLAB plotting techniques.
  • Have an interest in learning and using various programming languages, e.g., C#, R, Python, MATLAB, C++, JavaScript, etc.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
  • Have previous professional experience (e.g., internships) as a Software Engineer, particularly with a focus on databases and/or visualization.
  • Have previous experience with MATLAB.
  • Have an active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
