Bell Labs Summer Intern
Nokia Bell Labs is building the future of human experience and our interns will have the opportunity to learn from and work with industry leading experts, who solve the most formidable challenges confronting our world through disruptive innovation and research.
Our team is the App & Solution Software Research team, and we are researching, designing and developing innovative solutions and frameworks in the realm of digital twins, IoT data analytics and visualization, and remote environmental sensing. The latter contributes to the company’s sustainability targets.
 
Education Recommendations
 
Currently a candidate for bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, human-computer interaction, interaction design or related field with an accredited school in US. Minimum GPA 3.0.
 
What you will learn and contribute to
 
You will research, design and implement exciting new UI/UX experiences for environmental sensing data and/or digital twin/metaverse use cases.
As part of our team, you will:
  • UI/UX research, design and prototyping of new features and experiences
  • Implement the designs for web, mobile or AR displays
  • Work in close cooperation with the mentor and other interns; be a member of a team practicing Agile methodology
  • Collaborate with team members to create innovative ideas and rapidly develop proofs-of-concept and prototype solutions
  • Test and validate prototypes and implementation with users and stakeholders
 
What is Nokia looking for from me
 
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative UX Designer-Developer, who can design and implement innovative experiences and features for our research projects. You communicate well, always keeping an eye on delivering high quality work, and can thrive in highly dynamic environment with fast changing goals and technologies.
You have:
  • UI/UX design experience
  • Working knowledge of UX design principles
  • Web, mobile app or AR software development skills; JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Kotlin, experience with ReactJS
 
It would be nice if you also had:
  • A portfolio of design projects
  • Experience with design software (Figma, Adobe Illustrator, etc)
  • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas, vision and designs
  • Ability to work within a highly technical environment
