Program Services Intern (Spring 2023, non-paid)

Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida has a sole mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Started in 1983 by the Plantation Junior Woman's Club, the Southern Florida chapter has grown from granting a wish every 180 days to granting a wish every 14 hours. In its 34-year history, the organization has granted more than 11,000 wishes. Make-A-Wish Southern Florida serves children and families in 22 Florida counties in Southeast and Southwest Florida, the Tampa Bay and Suncoast regions and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Program Services Intern will support the Program Services Team in planning and follow-up of wishes for eligible children.Applicants should be self-motivated and have strong communication skills and attention to detail. Ideal for applicants pursuing a degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Child Development, Child Life or related fields. All majors are welcome to apply. Applicants that are bilingual in Spanish or Creole are encouraged to apply. Interns are expected to work between 15 to 20 hours a week during an 12 to 16 week period. 

Depending on the position, responsibilities may include researching in-kind items, creating wish itineraries, maintaining communication with wish families, completing wish file close-outs, or updating the wish database. During this internship you will learn to work within a team, develop oral and written communication skills, improve problem solving skills through task management, and gain knowledge of a career in the non-profit field.
