Your Role and Responsibilities
Position start date is in 2023The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is seeking an on-camera meteorologist for a new early-career role. As a member of our award-winning editorial team, you will deliver forecasts and perspective to an audience of millions.

The ideal candidate is someone who can quickly build a brand on social media through clear, concise messaging about the science of forecasting weather and explaining complex topics in simple language.

Responsibilities for this job include:

– Recording forecast and meteorological perspective pieces, and writing scripts for those videos when needed.
– Brainstorming with the social media team about unique ways to bring interesting weather topics to a growing niche audience on our social platforms.
– Recording special videos for our social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter, thinking of ways to intrigue those differing audiences.
– Working with our editorial team to ensure all videos and articles are meteorologically accurate.

Atlanta, GA, Brookhaven, GA, Remote

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
– Experience as an on-camera meteorologist in a local market
– Must include a reel showcasing your best work
– A deep understanding of a variety of social media platforms and what it takes to successfully build a brand on each
– Basic video editing skills are a plus
– Basic understanding of social media metrics and analytics tools
– Comfort working in a high-stress breaking news environment

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 2 years of experience as an on-camera meteorologist in a local market
  • One or more internships or co-op experience

The compensation range for this position is based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
