Storytelling Intern - Fall 2023

The Storytelling Intern provides journalistic support to the development team at at Jameson Camp. In this role you will collaborate closely with the Development Director to tell stories that inspire others to empower youth by removing barriers to healthy and vibrant experiences in nature.
Your primary project will be developing and executing a communications plan for the end of year campaign. This position is also responsible for photographing and interviewing children ages 5-17 and their families, writing blog posts, and collaborating with the team to develop copy for social media posts.

Check with your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.


As the creator of the storytelling asset bank:
  • Learn the artistic, legal, and ethical standards of photographing children and teens.
  • Develop and use a series of interview questions for the children and families we serve and for the staff, donors, and volunteers that make our mission possible.
  • Ensure the dignity of individuals whose stories you tell.
  • Collect and organize a useable digital database (OneDrive).

As a teller of stories:
  • Utilize the storytelling asset bank to develop engaging and inspiring content for digital and print.
  • Write persuasive letters to prospective donors, asking them for support.
  • Develop a portfolio of press releases to share with local media.
  • Submit events to AP Daybook and assist in managing relationships with journalists.

High School Diploma Required.
Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program.
Preference will be given to Journalism, Professional Writing, and Photography majors.
Preference will be given to applicants with professional experience with children ages 5-17.
