Automotive Audio Systems Intern

You will have the opportunity to make substantial impact on the product with the goal of improving our audio quality, getting hands-on experience validating and advancing automotive audio features in a fast-paced development and manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to apply a passion for audio perfection and gain cross functional skills in software, hardware, manufacturing, and connected infrastructure to root cause issues, and develop efficient procedures, tools and frameworks.  The internship is a terrific opportunity to jump right in the development/test schedule and push the state-of-the-art in automotive audio to deliver features to customers around the world within months.

We're looking for interns for the audio team for Summer, Fall, and Spring terms. 12 week minimum internship length, 24 weeks preferred.
 
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Characterize audio system quality with instruments (e.g. Audio Precision)
  • Bring up prototype hardware, i.e. get it working
  • Verify vehicle builds for audio functionality and correctness
  • Validate firmware builds for audio quality regression
  • Set up automated testing and measurement of audio systems
  • Profile performance of audio processing systems
  • Develop automated test frameworks in python
  • Work on-site in labs in Palo Alto/Fremont (cannot be remote)
 Basic qualifications:
  • Bash scripting
  • Strong skills in Python/numpy and MATLAB
  • Strong audio/electrical equipment skills setting up measurements and recordings
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn Linux/UNIX command line utilities
  • Ability to work with audio tools on headless linux systems, e.g. Raspberry Pi
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, board hardware, and debugging
  • Understanding digital audio / signal processing / DSP fundamentals
  • Ability to hear digital audio artifacts, localize and debug physical acoustic defects
  • Analyzing digital audio in MATLAB/Python
  • Highly detail oriented and well organized
  • Must possess a perpetual drive for perfection to squash all the bugs
  • Active enrollment in an academic program (i.e. cannot have graduated)
 Bonus qualifications:
  • Experience building an embedded digital audio project
  • Experience programming and debugging using JTAG
  • Programming experience in C/C++
  • Programming experience in JavaScript
  • Experience developing web applications
  • Experience with makefile and build tools
  • Experience with Git and cloud-based version control systems
  • Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking / project management tools
  • Passion for audio or music
