AmeriCorps Teaching Fellow

Are you:
  • Looking to make a difference?
  • Someone who loves working with kids?
  • Needing to gain experience as a teacher but don't have a degree or certification?

AmeriCorps Fellows serve a vital role at Academy Prep! From assisting in the classroom, developing and teaching their own classes, mentoring and tutoring one on one, serving meals, to chaperoning field trips, AmeriCorps members have the unique opportunity to grow and learn in a fun and fast-paced environment! Academy Prep serves middle school students qualifying for need-based scholarships. Students are in school 10-11 hours a day, and have the opportunity to take all kinds of classes in addition to their core academic classes.

We are seeking one AmeriCorps Teaching Fellow who wants to challenge themselves while serving the children of the community by working one on one and in groups with students as they learn a variety of academic subjects.

In exchange for their volunteer service, AmeriCorps Fellows receive:
  • Free housing in fully furnished apartments (includes all utilities!)
  • A monthly stipend of $1275
  • Full health insurance at no cost to you
  • An educational award of $6,495 after first year of service, which can be used towards student loans or future educational expenses
  • Unique opportunities to connect with community leaders

Past AmeriCorps teaching specialists who participated at Academy Prep are now at Harvard Graduate School of Education, the George Washington University, attorneys, teachers (both stateside and abroad), assistant principals, Peace Corps members, and so much more!

What door will being an Academy Prep AmeriCorps open for you?
