Junior Marketing Associate- Kiehl's Global Marketing Scientific Support

We are looking for a Junior Marketing Associate to join the Kiehl’s Global Marketing and Product Development (DMI) team in the Luxury Products Division of L’Oreal USA.

About the team: 
The Kiehl’s DMI Scientific Support team is seeking a creative intern who will research advances in biomedical[DA1]  sciences, personal care and product  claims support for global markets.  The intern will have an opportunity to work collaboratively across global product development, marketing, social media and communications leveraging skin science, product efficacy and formulation expertise into impactful marketing assets and programs for global skin care launches.

Under the guidance of Kiehl’s Scientific Director, the intern will learn to develop compelling skin science stories to elevate the technical story telling of our products, promote skin science literacy and communication of our products’ efficacy through different channels.  The intern will also have the opportunity to help plan and direct production of graphic/video collateral assets.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Research and identify skin science and ingredient insights for new product developments, Beauty Tech and instore diagnostics, and existing (Tier B and C) skin care advertising projects.
  • Review and support (ambassador responsibilities) preparation of product/skin science/beauty tech press, scripts and education materials
  • Managing and tracking clinical before and afters, and AI BAs photoshoots
  • Supporting claims support strategy and testing design in collaboration with our substantiation and advanced research teams
  • Prepare competitive science communication/claims research (patents, publication, technical product communications)
  • Exposure to product development key responsibilities including briefing formula, texture, claims and product testing
  • Exposure to scientific affairs and communications key responsibilities including product and collateral claims reviews, copy development, briefing and guiding creative on using technical diagrams and simplifying complex skin science concepts
  • Help prepare for meetings – preparing scientific concept slides and visually representing skin science
  • Support team on product/formula questions from other teams/markets
  • Create and help track key scientific support animation deliverables
  • Attend weekly Marketing/Development/Beauty Tech/Education/Scientific Support meetings to help track Scientific Support track key needs such as concept development, support documents for collateral development for key marketing campaigns
  • Provide ad hoc support as needed

Qualifications
  •  Bachelor’s degree within last 12 months with pre-med/biomed/biology/pharmacology focus; or pre-PhD candidate (Master’s gap year pre-PhD)
  • Legally authorized to work in the US on a fulltime, permanent, and ongoing basis without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
  •  Proficiency using PubMed and Google Scholar to identify high impact publications
  • Ability to identify and analyze technical publications, and translate into consumer friendly language
  • Basic research and planning experience, long form research or thesis experience  (undergraduate, masters, honors) a bonus
  • Copy-writing and fact-checking experience a bonus
  • Time management, customer service, attention to detail, effective communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop and Graphics programs
  • Resourceful, proactive approach and positive aptitude
  • Experience/Passion in beauty (preferably skincare), retail or beauty service/salon
