Full-time Finance and Accounting Position - Private Equity / Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition

NextGen Growth Partners (“NextGen” or “NGP”), a unique lower middle-market private equity firm based in Chicago, IL, is pleased to announce an opportunity for a hardworking, detail-oriented self-starter to join the firm’s finance and accounting team in the Chicago office.
Opportunity Overview
NextGen is looking for an exceptional candidate to work directly with the Chief Financial Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the firm’s impact while working alongside highly accomplished principals and investors and, with demonstrated ability and performance, has a clear path to advancement within the firm. The successful candidate will actively participate in all aspects of the firm’s finance and accounting operations, including but not limited to:
  • Management company bookkeeping, treasury, budgeting, and administration
  • Fund level accounting, administration, and reporting (portfolio valuations)
  • Manage relationships with key counterparties and external service providers, including external audit and tax firms, banks, insurance providers and others related to the financial operations of the Fund and the Company
  • Manage calculations for different activities and processes including management fees, capital allocations, distribution waterfalls, carried interest, etc.
  • Coordination of investor communications such as quarterly updates, capital calls, distributions, etc.
  • Support on investor meetings and fundraising activities
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have one to four years of public accounting or relevant experience. Other key qualifications for the role include:
  • Strong accounting knowledge (CPA preferred but not required)
  • Quick to learn and retain information and processes
  • Proven history of being a self-starter – proactive, resourceful, and willing to “figure things out”
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural fit with NGP, who is committed to growing and willing to provide and receive radically candid feedback
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel (QuickBooks experience is a plus)
