Director of Engineering

DESCRIPTION/DUTIES: California Oregon Broadcasting, Inc. (COBi) has an opening for a full-time Director of Engineering in the Corporate Engineering Department. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Redtronix Division of COBi, including direct project management, assigning daily priorities and jobs, administrative tasks, such as time cards, tracked hours, overtime, and budget.

Collaborate with management and engineering staff of other COBI companies; identify problems that Redtronix may help resolve quicker or more efficiently or help resolve with consultation to assist with local resolution. Identify equipment that needs replacement. Work with company managers and corporate finance to develop a capital equipment plan for the current year and future years. 
 
Seek opportunities for the Company to save money, time, and become more efficient in general. 
 
FCC correspondence and matters such as licensing, regulations and requirements that may apply to all COBi operations.
Track license renewals, changes and annual regulatory fees.
Coordination with COBi FCC attorneys in Washington, DC.
 
Lease negotiations, management and communication for mountaintop communications sites, real estate and other corporate matters. Coordinate with COBi corporate attorneys.
 
Annual Communications Site reports to government agencies (BLM/USF/OR).
 
COBi building management and tenant communications.
 
Keep abreast of OSHA, Oregon State, county and city safety rules and regulations to assure all operations meet these requirements.
 
Manage safety and security of COBi operations, including coordination with local law enforcement.
 
Other responsibilities as assigned by Manager or President.
 
EXPERIENCE: Must have working knowledge of desktop computers, servers, IT networks, microwave transmission systems, television transmitters, test equipment, and construction tools. The ideal candidate will be successful in working well with staff, thinking clearly under pressure, and applying creative solutions in a timely manner. Must be flexible to accommodate 24/7 on-call response to consult with station engineering staff on critical technical issues. Broadcast engineering experience preferred. A technical school or college degree in engineering is a plus.
 
REQUIREMENTS: A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. COBi holds licenses issued by the FCC; therefore, we must follow federal guidelines. Since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, if offered a position, a candidate would be required to pass a 10-panel drug screen, which does include marijuana. A 3-yr driving record check and a 7-yr criminal background check are also pre-employment requirements. We also require all hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
