Electrical Engineer

As an entry- level Electrical Engineer for the John Deere Construction & Forestry division, located in Dubuque, IA, you will be responsible for various aspects of the development or testing of electrical and electronic systems and hardware for construction machines. In addition, you will:
 
  • Participate on Product Delivery Process (PDP) teams to deliver customer solutions
  • Provide problem solving of electrical issues on new product development and current production machines
  • Have development responsibility for electrical hardware design including electrical components, switches, sensors, wire harnesses, etc.
  • Engage in applying product verification and validation tools with PDP teams
  • Participate in competitor benchmarking, vehicle specification development, as well as creation and maintenance of product design guidelines

What Skills You Need

 
  • Experience performing analysis, testing and/or design work with electrical or electronic components/systems (through internships, relevant coursework or practical experience)
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated ability to work in self- directed manner
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (both domestic and international)


What Makes You Stand Out

 
  • Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of electrical components such as batteries, starters, alternators, rocker switches, relays, solenoids, sensors, actuators and connectors
  • Experience with electrical wire harness circuits, routing, schematics and other electrical/electronic technical drawings
  • An understanding of the interaction between software and hardware components
  • Experience troubleshooting vehicle electrical systems
  • Experience working in a cross- functional team environment
  • Familiarity with Construction, Forestry or Ag off- road equipment
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools for harness routing, such as ProE- ProCable and Mentor Graphics- Capital Harness
  • Experience with systems engineering practices


Education

 
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
 
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an Electrical, Systems or Computer Engineering discipline
