Sr. UX Designer

The Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) – The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second largest municipal utility in Florida, is looking for a Sr. UX Designer to join the Customer Experience & Sales Division. We are looking for a skilled digital designer experienced in web, mobile design and development work with a focus in creating and providing the best user experience across all digital channels. In this role, you will design successful front end user experiences through research, analysis, design and testing for OUC digital channels. Project management experience will be a plus.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Design, Visual Communications, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Design, Computer Science, or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of User Experience Design Work (including mobile), Human-Computer Interaction, Interactive Media Design, Product Management, Web Design & Development or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years managing projects and/or teams or leadership training through hands-on experience.

Job Purpose:
Design successful front end user experiences through research, analysis, design and testing for OUC digital channels. Utilize human-centric design solution, collaborate across teams to help create efficient, effective and desirable front end experiences by utilizing research, information architecture and visual design skills. Keep pace with digital channels standards and trends, including researching new technology, best business practices and emerging trends in order to make recommendations to management.
Primary Job Functions:
·         Lead cross functional discussions on digital channels and identify areas of improvement to benefit the customer experience;
·         Work with stakeholders, technical architects and other user experience practitioners to understand product and service offerings in order to design application systems (i.e. responsive web design) by focusing on navigation, content organization and interactive features that enable users to complete tasks more quickly, efficiently and with a higher level of confidence;
·         Collaborations include coordinating with development and design teams to create product digital designs with intuitive routing and navigation features. Coordinate collaboration of designers, developers, IT resources and external vendors;
·         Monitor and investigate the user experience of digital products/services, identify areas for improvement and enhance digital offerings to ensure meaningful interactive experiences;
·         Design and maintain wireframes, process flows, user flows, personas, journey maps, functional and non-functional specifications, and prototypes to help teams understand the user experience;
·         Develop and maintain user personas, journey maps, and user scenarios to understand the user and their process through the systems;
·         Review and edit documents related to digital channels from a user experience process;
·         Coordinate the research, analysis, development, and usability testing of the design process;
·         Facilitate discovery, requirements gathering and brainstorming session;
·         Conduct usability tests to identify gaps/weaknesses on digital offerings and collaborate in providing the best solutions;
·         Identify and implement opportunities for improving e-Commerce development, workflows and processes;
·         Maintain documentation and artifacts specific to the user experience;
·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Design, Visual Communications, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Design, Computer Science, or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of User Experience Design Work (including mobile), Human-Computer Interaction, Interactive Media Design, Product Management, Web Design & Development or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years managing projects and/or teams or leadership training through hands-on experience.
Technical Requirements: 
  • Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following:
  • Digital channels usage analysis tools with the objective to optimize the customer journey;
  • Content Management Solutions (including Sitefinity);
  • Design and prototype and the lead tools (i.e. Sketch, Axure, Invision, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite);
  • Mobile-Responsive Layouts;
  • Understand latest and legacy digital capabilities (i.e. mobile platforms);
  • Usability testing of digital channels;
  • Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices, and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws;
Familiarity with all, but not limited to, the following:
  • Software Applications (i.e., CIS, Microsoft Visio);
  • Online forms, including summarization of results collected in databases;
  • Agile Project management methodology and tools (i.e. JIRA);
  • Internet coding (i.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, .ASP net coding) and server environments;
  • Other applications (i.e. IVR, Salesforce, AutoCAD) desirable;
