Transportation Planning Intern (Bicycle and Pedestrian)

The Planning and Development Department (Transportation) with the City of Jacksonville, Florida, is looking for interns that have an interest in bicycle and pedestrian transportation planning. Candidates must possess basic knowledge of GIS/mapping and be willing to learn how to interpret engineering roadway cross sections and site plans (as pertain to bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure). The candidate must also be familiar/comfortable with analysis of large data sets using Excel (extracting pertinent information from data sets to create infographics, reports, etc.). There are also a number of office/admin tasks involved, including outreach to stakeholders, helping coordinate meetings, writing for our bike-ped newsletter, drafting presentations, public speaking, etc. Special consideration for those with knowledge of CAD systems. The internship is unpaid but offers a diverse array of learning opportunities for those interested in planning for active transportation. The internship would require in-office work 10-35 hours per week, depending on the candidate's work/school schedule (flexible).
