For half of the internship, you will be part of the NewsHub team, where you will pitch, report and write stories for NPR’s website and learn what it takes to make those stories go big across digital platforms. For the other half of the internship, you will be embedded with the News Apps/Graphics team, focusing on graphics, data visualization and visual storytelling.
Our journalists work fast and work smart to cover the news and find the best ways to get those stories to our audience.
This position could be a good fit for someone experienced with graphics and data analysis who wants to improve their reporting skills, or for a reporter with some graphics experience who wants to build stronger graphics/coding chops.
A digital portfolio is required for consideration. If possible, also include a link to your GitHub profile. (If sharing via GitHub is not an option for you, please provide us another way to evaluate your technical and problem-solving skills. This might entail sharing a side project, writing up how you approached a project, or submitting a code sample in a different form.) Please include links in your resume or cover letter.
