Product Management Intern - Fall/Winter 2022

Program Duration: October 3, 2022 - April 14, 2023
NPR’s Distribution division serves as the bridge between public radio program producers and public radio stations, helping to deliver (by satellite and internet) the public radio shows you listen to every day.
We are seeking a highly-motivated and creative Product Management Intern that will be a part of NPR this Fall-Spring! As a Product Management Intern, you will work with a cross-functional team from Design and Technology to define the near-term and long-term roadmap for our Hub service offerings. You will also partner with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Finance and Legal. From prototyping to development to commercialization, you’ll own the full lifecycle of features on the Hub product in addition to assisting with activities surrounding the MetaPub and ContentDepot products.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager on a new or existing product and build a roadmap for its continued evolution.
  • Assist in the roll-out, training and support of new products and capabilities.
  • Draw insights and inspiration from user research, trends in the market, and direct feedback from stations to define new strategies.
  • Participate in scrums to efficiently plan, and brainstorming sessions to tackle customer problems
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and teams to develop and spread customer empathy
  • Get the best out of those around you by operating as a supportive teammate to engineers, designers and others throughout the agile development process
  • Join a quickly growing and passion-driven product team and become a member of an accomplished and talented group
  • Participate in customer discovery activities with the product team and capture insights
  • Participate with clear direction in go-to-market launch plans and activities
  • Participate in select customer interactions in partnership with the product team
  • Develop an understanding of how the product is marketed to customers and document findings
  • Support information distribution to sales and marketing
  • Work with team to utilize the understanding of customer insights into development of product components
  • Work with your manager to identify your key interests, and determine projects/deliverables for the duration of the internship
WHO YOU ARE
  • You are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in business admin, economics, statistics, computer science, data science or marketing.
  • You have natural leadership tendencies. Your track record shows numerous occasions of bringing people together, formally or informally, to accomplish something you’re passionate about.
  • An exceptional communicator. You have experience collaborating effectively with creatives, engineers and business people. You inspire people to action with your story telling.
  • Strong writing, organizational and analytical abilities
  • Have a strong understanding of the Product Management career, including exposure to various philosophies, techniques and approaches to the role
Bonus points if you are…
  • A proven operator. You’ve been on teams building software before and know the basics of the product management craft.
  • A radio enthusiast. You love radio and are passionate about helping broadcasters thrive.
  • Are passionate about and have experience working with data via prior work experience, internships or projects to inform product decisions.
  • Experienced with Google Analytics
WHO CAN APPLY?
  • LOCATION: This internship will be fully remote. Must be planning to work from the United States throughout the fall/winter 2022 internship dates.
  • EDUCATION: Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship.

  • Are passionate about delivering broadcast content to stations and ultimately audiences
  • A passion and experience working with data via prior work experience, internships or projects to inform product decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

SCHEDULE
  • 20-30 hours per week, flexible with the intern’s schedule
